Join us and the SFSNNJ for the Northeastern US Premiere screening of Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated.
Attending this screening will be Mike Schneider (organizer/ curator of NOTLD:R), Rob Hauschild and Peter Gutierrez (Wild Eye Releasing), and a number of the NOTLD:R artists.
Following the screening, there will be a zombie panel featuring acclaimed horror authors including Brian Keene, Jonathan Maberry, and others.

** Without further ado, I am glad to announce the winners of the character design contest. Let's start with the highest originality score. Taking together the different opinions of the jury members, the prize for best concept goes to the entry of Raymond Jacob. Raymond took the spirit of the contest to heart, came up with a character that puts a life-sized trait in a superhero context, and did so in a very natural way. Thinking a little longer on how to superpower his nephew might lift the idea even further, but the main concept is already there.
** The highest technical score goes to Xam!, by Ben Moss. The vintage look, the central, attention-grabbing display of the character and the choice to introduce the character via a cover page all worked very well. While the entry was also lauded at the conceptual level, the jury was most impressed by execution of the drawing.
** Finally, the prize for the best overall submission goes to Jason Dennis' Softener. Well-drawn, the character design was emphasized by showing the Softener in various perspectives. Dennis' not only took mundane aspects, but lifted them to a superhero context while keeping them intact, which was considered a playful way of interpreting the contest. One technical critique considered the use of a somewhat distracting background that obscures the character, but The Softener altogether makes for an interesting character for a comic book story.
